Assignment 12 - My Life

........My life is blessed because I didn't have to go through tough things through my entire life. I was born in 1972 in Gang-won province. I moved to Seoul when I was 3 years , and I have lived in Seoul ever since. I graduted a university in Seoul in 1995, right after graduation, I started working for Asiana Airlines. The next year I met my husband at work, and we got married in 1998. I became a mother in 2000. I gave birth to one more daughter in 2006. My life is not like a great person, but I'm thankful to god for being a happy woman with lovely family and having a good job.

Good memories of trip to LA

........My trip to LA was very exciting. It's my first trip with my daughter and my sister. My friend lived in LA, and another friend who lived in Hawaii flew there to meet us. At that time, it was just 4 weeks after my friend's first delivery. My friend and I made seaweed soup for her. We visited many places such as Rodeo street, Disney Land, and Mann's Theater. We also did a lot of shopping at day time. We visited almost shopping malls around LA. We stayed up to late night and talked a lot about our highschool days. We looked at our old pictures and laughed a lot because we were different from that time. I will never forget the time with my old frinds. It was a real fun trip.

Assignment 11 - Tuna kim-chi stew

......This is a good recipe for yummy tuna kim-chi stew. First of all, prepare 300g of kim-chi, half a cup of kim-chi juice, 1 onion, a half piece of bean curd, 3 cups of anchovy broth and 1 can of tuna. Then cut up the kim-chi, onion and bean curd. After that put the kim-chi in a pot and fry it with 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Then put the broth and kim-chi juice in the pot. And boil for 15 minutes over medium heat. Next add the onion and boil 10 more minutes. Add the bean curd and tuna and boil 5 more minutes. Finally, serve the kim-chi stew with hot rice. You'll enjoy it.

Assignment 10 - My Hometown

.......I am from Seoul, the capital city and the largest city in Korea. Seoul is the center of the Korean economy and politics. There are many business buildings and the National Assembly Building in a Seoul. Therefore, there is a population of nearly 12 million in Seoul. Because many people live in Seoul, it is one of the busiest city in the world. You'll encounter heavy traffic jam especially during the weekend. But, Seoul is a good place to live. The climate is warm and mild especially in spring and autumn. There are also many cultural places such as old palaces near City Hall. Seoul also has many places to shop cheaply. Near the Universities there are many good places to eat and shop with reasonble price. As you can see, Seoul is a busy city, but it has much benefit to live.

Assignment 9 - My Bedroom

........My bedroom is simple and undecorated. There is a big window without curtains on it. Beside the window, there is a dark brown colored bed. There is a big white dresser next to the bed which does not go well with my room. Opposite the bed, there is a dark brown colored closet. It's big, and it occupies the one wall in the room. There are green picture frames of flowers on the right side of the room. Above the frames, there is a silver colored clock. There is also a door to the bathroom to the left of the picture frames. As you can see, there is not much furniture, but I like it because I could have a good rest there.

Assignment 8 - More About Me

.......I am a softhearted person. Whenever I see poor people, I can not pass by them. For example, when I meet people who sell small things on a bus or on a subway, I always buy things from them even if I don't need them. In addition, I buy vegetables from old ladies at a subway station. Whenever I come back home with the vegetables, my mother says their quality is not good, but I can not just pass them without buying them, because I feel very sorry when I see them. I also cry often. I had to wipe tears when I saw my daughter's graduation ceremonies. It's was so embarrassing. I sometimes feel like crying at wedding ceremonies. When I hear wedding march, I feel inexpressible emotion in my heart and tears come out. Also, I try not to watch sad movies with my children, because I don't want them to see me crying. As you can see, I am faint-hearted, but I like myself the way I am.

Assignment 7 - Chae-won's typical day

......DuDuring the week, Chae-won's days are very busy. She wakes up at 7:30 a.m. After that she washes, and she has breakfast. After breakfast she gets dressed and goes to school about 8:15 a.m. After school she goes an English class every day, and then she goes to a piano class. She also takes a painting class every Monday and Wednesday. Finally, she gets home about 5 p.m. When she gets home, she eats some snacks because she feels hungry after all her work. Then, she does her homerwork and reads books. Next she eats dinner at 6 :30 p.m. and takes a break. Around 8 p.m she sometimes writes in her diary and plays with her sister until she goes to bed around 9:30 p.m. As you can see, her days are full of things to do.

Hee-won's character

......My daughter is an energetic toddler. She does many things while she is awake. For example, she carries her toys back and forth from the living room to her room. She is inquisitive,and she always talking. She wants to know everything that happens in her family. In addition, she never rests. As you can see, she has very busy days.

Assignmet 6 - Hye-suk's way of keeping fit

.......Hye-suk does several things to stay healthy. First, she doesn't eat junk food such as hamburgers ans french fries. She also doesn't eat in the evening especially 4 hous before going to bed. When she really feels hungry she eats dried seaweed which is good for health. Second, she doesn't smoke at all because she knows smoking is very bad for health. Third, she enjoys going for walks with her husband in her free time, and she also goes for a jogg 2 or 3 times a week. As you can see, she tries very hard to keep fit.

My typical day

......DDuring the week, my days are very busy. I always wake up at 5: 30 a.m. and, I wash my face and hair. After that I put on make up quickly, and I get dressed. Then I usually leaves home at 6:20. I arrive my work around 7:15 a.m. At work, first all, I change into uniforms. If I have time, I often have a cup of coffee before get to work. And then I go to check-in counter to support my staff, and I come back my office around 9 a.m. I check my e-mails and make a list what to do. My work usually finishes about 7 p.m. I get home about 8:30 p.m. , and I take a shower. Next I check my daughter's homework and message from her teacher. It's almost 10:00 p.m. when I finish my day. Sometimes I watch TV or read books, but when I'm really tired I go to bed. As you can see, my days are full of work.

Assignmnet 5 - My hobbies

.....WWhen I have free time, I walk to the park near my house to get some fresh air. I like walking through trees with my children. Sometimes I have coffee with my friends and go to movies. I also like going shopping with my sister and my mother. We go to department stores and markets even though we have nothing to buy. Sometimes I don't buy anything, but I have lunch there. If I don't have any appointments on my days off, I stay home and read books or watch TV. I enjoy reading novels, my favorite book is "Anne of Green Gable." I also like watching soap dramas. When I read books and watch dramas I can go to anywhere and I can do anything, that's the reason I like reading novels and watch soap dramas. Sometimes when I am exhausted I like sleeping the whole day. As you can see, I have many things to make my life happy.

Assignmnt 4 - My mother

.....My mother is 63 years old, and her name is Younghee Kim. She has a common name for her age, but she is not a common mother to me. She is a very devoted mother. She has been looking after my children for 10 years. Although she is an outgoing person she gave up all her activities when my first daughter was born and decided to raise her. She moved to our house when my first daughter became an elementary school student. She stays with my family during the week, and she returns home every Friday. She does my housework such as cooking, cleaning and laundry. She cooks very well, especially "Goo-jeol-pan". She is very loved and important to my family. She is a Christian, so she prays very hard for us. She deserves the word "MOTHER".

Assignment 3 - My daughter

....My daughter's name is Chae won. She is 10 years old and is a 3rd grade elementary school student. She is very shy and quiet with strangers. However, she is quite outgoing with her family. She is also forgetful and loving. She once left her school bag at school, and she sometimes does not bring her school books home. But she is still very lovely to me. She lived with her grandparents until she was 7 years, so she loves them very much. She loves her younger sister too unless her sister messes up her belongings. She likes painting, so she wants to be a painter when she grows up. She also wants to be a magician and a teacher. She has not decided yet what to do when she becomes an adult. She likes to go movies with me, and she asks me and my husband to take her to movies on holidays. Her favorite food is "Tuna kimchi stew", so she could eat 2 bowls of rice only with it.

Assignment 2 - My classmate

....My classmate's name is Jiseon Kim. She was born in Gwang-ju in 1972. She's been working for Asiana Airlines since 1995. She used to work at the international airport with me, but she moved to another department. Now she is working in the "Passenger IT" team. She met her husband at the Asiana's photo club. She got married at Aug 15, 1998, and now she has a 10-year-old daughter. Her daughter lives with Jiseon's mother, because she and her husband are both working. After finishing work, she usually stops by her mother's home to meet her daughter and to check her homework. She is a very devoted mom and wife. She loves reading books, and she is a member of an online book club. She is also good at painting and taking photographs. Actually, she seems to know everything aout books, paintings, music and wine. She is a great cook, too. She is a very positive and active person, so she always makes the people who are around her happy and comfortable.

Assignment 1 - Self introduction

.....I was born in 1972 in Gang-won province. My father was in the army, our family lived in Gang-won province until I was 3 years old. I don't have many memories about my birth place, because I was a little baby when I left there. I majored in 'Public Administration' at university. After I graduated university, I started working for Asiana Airlines. I have been working at the International airport for nearly 14 years. I met my husband at work . He used to work for Asiana Airlines, but now he does not work with me any more. I got married in 1998 in Yeo-su which is my husband's hometown. Now I have 2 daughters. The oldest one is 10 years old and the youngest one is 29 months. I am happy with my lovley family. As my daughters grow up, I become busier. I have lots of things to take care of, and I sometimes wonder if I was a full time housewife, would I be a good mother and wife? My excuse is that I have a job, and it's a little bit hard to spend a lot of time with my family. I love travelling and reading books especially novels. I don't have many opportunities to travel, but I try to read various kinds of books. These days I'm reading 'Sam Kook Ji'. I hope to travel all over the world with my family sometime in the future.
